More Than the Offseason

Hi Y’all!

I figured it was about time to jump on here and give everyone an update on where I am at with life. I announced in January that I quit my full-time marketing job in Sacramento to pursue my passion. As of January 1st, I officially became a “full-time photographer”. This is a huge leap of faith for myself, but I am ready to see what 2018 & years beyond bring my way!

As many of you know, Brennan plays baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals Organization, pursuing his dream of making it to the bigs. He was drafted back in 2015 after we had been dating only 4 months (EEEEK!) and off to rookie ball in Johnson City, Tennessee he went!

Man oh man, we did not know what was in store for our relationship & our careers in that moment. I still had a year of college left, and was trying to figure out how to squeeze in any trips across the country between finals. We learned A LOT the first summer of him playing in the minors.. First and foremost, not every airline banks flights and is as generous as Southwest and getting travel reward credit cards is a must! Points = Flights!!!

I would love to say to say that going into our 4th season of his minor league career each year gets easier, but it doesn’t. We have had our struggles and it has been HARD. I know that personally, I get annoyed easily with him after over 7 weeks of not seeing each other, but I have to remind myself its only because of the distance. Last season, when he was in Florida playing for the Palm Beach Cardinals, I was able to fly out once a month. I don’t think we are going to be as lucky this year with my schedule and his. The time we have when he is home during the offseason we try and take advantage of it as much as we can. We plan as many day trips to Tahoe & the coast as we can, while still making sure he can get his workouts and throwing in.

Distance is hard. Period. We are so grateful he is given the opportunity to chase his dream and go back to Florida for spring training again. As of March 5th, Brennan left for spring training and I have been holding down the fort at home with our pup & working on expanding my own business and career in photography. Hopefully I’ll be heading out to see him soon, but for now, cheers to spring training & a wonderful offseason spent in Sacramento. I can’t wait to see where this new season takes us!!

PS: if anyone has any air miles or points they want to donate, this girl needs them and would be forever grateful! (;

xoxo,

Madison

PPS: if you made it to the end of that, you get to see a dose of real life with a 7 month old puppy and attempting a self-timer image. You’re welcome!
